I’m Rob Pickthall, and this is my AS film studies coursework blog.
I have chosen to do the film, “True Grit,” owing to the fact it has already been released in the US, and therefore gives me lots to post about, and that there will be lots of franchising involved with the film.
It is directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, a.k.a, the ‘Coen Brothers,’ already two big names of directors which will help express to the public that the film will be a big, blockbuster movie and most likely recieve oscar nominations. The cast includes, ‘Matt Damon,’ (‘Ocean’s 11/12/13′ & ‘Stuck on You’,) and, ‘Jeff Bridges,’ (‘The Big Lebowski,’ & ‘Crazy Heart’) Both of these actors are big names in Hollywood, and therefore another reason I should expect this film to achieve respectable status by the time it is released in the UK.
The Film is set to be released in the UK on February 11th 2011.
Here is a brief synopsis of the film, quoted from its ‘filmdates.co.uk’ page (http://www.filmdates.co.uk/films/1521-true-grit/) – “Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with “true grit,” Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her “grit” tested.”
THIS FILM IS GOING TO BE BIG.
